Our Heritage Association

The Bonneville County Heritage Association (BCHA) began in 2004 when Mary Jane Fritzen gathered a few volunteers, including County Commissioner Dave Radford, and organized the Bonneville County Heritage Association to begin making plans to commemorate the Centennial of February 7, 1911. The year-long Centennial celebration ended in November of 2011.

Our Mission was:

• kindle and promote a spirit throughout the county and the state regarding the heritage and history of the county and its people;
• to encourage greater participation in its history by everyone including our youth;
• to educate and learn about our past as we prepare for our future.

The BCHA served as a community volunteer group and worked with the Museum of Idaho regarding the promotion of the Reading Room and museum activities, and other groups regarding the heritage and history of the county.

Our Goals were:

• Enhance public awareness and understanding of Bonneville County history and its people.
• Continue oversight and documentation of the County Treasures developed during the Centennial celebration.
• Promote and enhance public awareness about the County Treasures and their tours.
• Maintain an active website.
• Promote and support awareness of businesses and other organizations to the heritage of Bonneville County.
• Work with the State Idaho Historical Society to enhance awareness statewide about the heritage and history of Bonneville County and its people.
• Raise funds as needed to update outreach brochures and other tools to accomplish the mission and goals.
• Conduct projects, programs, and socials supportive of the above goals and mission statement.
